Live Edge Timber Slabs

What is this product?

Logs can be cut from end to end to produce striking feature timber slabs. Slabs reveal the natural contours of the tree and show unique grain features of the timber. Often, we use non-structural logs as slabs

What is it good for?

They are great for statement pieces such as dining tables, coffee tables, desks, kitchen Benchtops, bathroom vanities, and other furniture.

What species of tree works best?

Many eucalyptus species: blackbutt, spotted gum, Sydney blue gum, as well as exotic woods: camphor laurel, himalayan cedar, English oak, liquid amber, Norfolk Island pine

How are they processed?

Slabs are cut through the machine, then stacked with stickers (thin timber strips), strapped and stored on level ground. They are left for 1-3 years to season. They are then machined flat again to remove any warping due to drying

Large Section Hardwood

What is this product?

We can cut almost any size of hardwood. Due to the versatility of our mills, large sizes are possible.

What is it good for?

They are ideal for feature posts, firewood seating, beams, and sculpture mantles, and anything else you can think of.

What species of tree works best?

Sydney blue gum, blackbutt, spotted gum, Ironbark, grey box, grey gum

How are they processed?

Large logs are marked out for size and cut into these unique sizes appropriate to your needs.

Stair Treads

What is this product?

We love processing high quality logs into stair treads. This timber makes a striking feature for any staircase and is a great way to recover high quality timber from logs

What is it good for?

Internal staircases. Treads and also risers can be supplied upon request

What species of tree works best?

Common species for stair treads are Sydney blue gum, blackbutt, and spotted gum

How are they processed?

Timber planks are cut into larger sizes and stacked ready for drying. Once seasoned (or in common parlance, dried) the rough sawn timber is dressed into its final dimensions ready to be used for internal stairs

Dowels

What is this product?

Seasoned timber can be processed into dowels which is cylindrical timber sections

What is it good for?

They are used for handrails, timber furniture, hanging rods, curtain rods, and can be cut in half (half rounds) for joinery features. This can be produced in sizes 12-80mm

What species of tree works best?

Common species for dowels are blackbutt, spotted gum, and Sydney blue gum

How are they processed?

Seasoned timber is cut into square sections and processed through a dowel making machine which cuts the contours, making round timber stock

Unseasoned Hardwood

What is this product?

Unseasoned hardwood is Timber that has been cut from the sawmill and is able to be used without seasoning

What is it good for?

Unseasoned hardwood is great for any external applications or construction; framing or subfloors. Common applications would be pergola posts, veranda posts, decking joists, framing for external structures. Timber can be cut and used straight away so is ideal for many applications where timber will seasoned in place once installed

What species of tree works best?

Blackbutt, Ironbark, spotted gum, Sydney blue gum, swamp mahogany, and tallowwood

How are they processed?

Timber is cut into required sections and dressed (machined smooth) if applicable

Seasoned Hardwood

What is this product?

Timber that is cut, stacked and seasoned for applications that requires the timber to be at a lower moisture content. It is more stable than unseasoned timber

What is it good for?

Joinery, stairs, handrails, shelves, table tops, and any internal timber work

What species of tree works best?

Blackbutt, Ironbark, spotted gum, Sydney blue gum, swamp mahogany, or tallowwood

How are they processed?

Timber planks are cut into larger and smaller sizes and stacked ready for drying. Once seasoned (dried) the rough sawn timber is dressed into its final dimensions ready to be used for whatever you need

Firewood

What is this product?

All our timber processing waste is converted into firewood

What is it good for?

Great for combustion and open Fireplaces’, fire pits, camping, and woodfire pizza ovens

What species of tree works best?

Ironbark, spotted gum, blackbutt, Sydney blue gum, great gum, grey box

How are they processed?

Offcuts are bundles and cut into smaller sections perfect for firewood. Log offcuts are split into firewood and left to season
